Course 303  - Post-Processing With Analyzer

Using The Analyzer Post-Processing Tool In CDMA System Performance Optimization

Scope

This one-day seminar introduces the Grayson Analyzer post-processing software and explains the objectives, principles, and techniques for using Analyzer to assess CDMA system performance.

Analyzer’s installation and hardware requirements are discussed and installation is completed if not already successful.

Using local data collected earlier in Course 301, all pertinent features and analysis capabilities of the software are demonstrated and explored. Example data may be supplemented with previously-captured examples of classical system deficiencies or anomalies where necessary to illustrate specific problems.  After basic capabilities have been demonstrated and understood, the prime emphasis shifts to effectively using the power of Analyzer to find and study specific events and derive system statistics.

At conclusion, students will be able to convert drive-test files into the format required by Analyzer, extract system performance statistics from data files, recognize symptoms of common problems, and identify appropriate corrective actions to be taken.

This course is network-hardware-generic, focusing on the RF air interface and specific behavior of subscribers’ handsets operating under applicable standards. It complements, but does not replace, network manufacturers’ specific “System Optimization” courses which focus largely on hardware-specific and proprietary details of internal network operation and may not include the detailed CDMA RF perspective presented here.

Applicability

CDMA systems of all frequency bands (800, 1900 MHz.) and all network equipment manufacturers (Lucent, Nortel, Motorola, QualComm, Samsung)

Target Audience

Engineers and technicians responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing CDMA wireless systems

Course Presentation Setting and Methods

This course includes classroom presentation of the introduction and review topics using course materials and computer projection. The remainder of the course consists of live analysis and demonstrations drawn from collected data files.
