Course 401 - Installing And Operating The Agilent E-7473a Network Measurement System

Scope

This one-day seminar teaches and actually demonstrates the installation and operation of Agilent CDMA drive-test hardware and software, including all main product features. At conclusion, users will have hands-on experience with both hardware and software of the tool, and will recognize the various indicated and collected CDMA parameters.  Other courses in this series explain advanced aspects of the air interface required for interpretation of observed system problems and help build skills for identifying causes of performance problems and appropriate corrective actions.

Topics

·        Orientation: Introduction to CDMA Drive Test Tools

·        Network Measurement System Hardware Installation

·        Network Measurement System Software Installation, Configuration, and Setup

·        Operating Features

·        Handset data capture, PN Scanner data capture, Spectrum Analyzer functions

·        Objectives and Methods for Observing, Collecting, and Cataloging Data

·        Common Operational Pitfalls and Problems

Target Audience

Engineers and technicians responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing wireless CDMA systems.

Course Presentation Setting and Methods

This course requires both a classroom setting and a vehicle for drive-test demonstrations. Basic hardware is introduced in the classroom, then installed by the class participants in the demonstration vehicle. All class members participate in demonstration test drives to gain personal hands-on experience. The hardware and locally-collected data are then brought to the classroom for screen projection, discussion, and review by the entire class.

Course Documentation and Materials

Student Guide, Reference Card, and miscellaneous supplies.

Facilities and Hardware Requirements

·        Customer-provided E-7473A Network Measurement System

·        Vehicle suitable for demonstration (a minivan or larger is ideal).

·        Classroom suitable for student note-taking and a screen or other projection surface

·        Operating CDMA system with at least one BTS on the air.

For maximum effectiveness, we recommend the number of students be limited to not more than twice or worst-case, three times the seating capacity of the demonstration vehicle (allow one seat for the instructor). Multiple vans increase feasible attendance.
